Whale Discovery in Baja California

Detailed itinerary of the 7 days round trip starting and finishing in La Paz

Day 1:  Bienvenidos a La Paz! Our representative will be waiting for you at the airport. It is a short ride to the center where our hotel is located. If you prefer to arrive at Cabo airport we can assist you with a shuttle service (extra cost). During the Welcome Meeting we will go over the itinerary and clarify any last questions you might have. Come with us to and optional first group dinner. Our hotel in La Paz is Hotel HBlue.

Day 2:  After breakfast on the terrace we will travel on our private van to Puerto Chale. Our experienced captain will take us along the bay to find the gray whales. We will spend about two hours on the boat. After our first encounter with the curious giants, we will enjoy a fresh lunch (included) before we drive to San Carlos, a laid-back fisherman village where we will spend the night at the shore of Bahia Magdalena. Take note of all the colorful murals and see how much the ocean is part in the life of the local people.  The Hotel Villas Mar & Arena will be our home for two nights.

 

Day 3:  Today we head out early for a second gray whale watching. Our captain will bring us to the area of the gray whales and we spend quality time with the mammals that come to the bay for feeding, calving and nurturing purposes. After our adventure with the whales we head to Isla Magdalena where we will enjoy an included lunch on the island. Before we go back to the mainland, we explore the sandy dunes and, if you like, you can walk over to the pacific coast. After a total of around 6 hours we come back to shore and enjoy the tranquil ambience of a natural paradise that is still protected from mass tourism. Overnight in Bahia Magdalena, Hotel Villas Mar & Arena.

Day 4:   After the magical encounters with the friendly giants it is time to head back to La Paz. You can choose to spend the afternoon relaxing at the rooftop pool of the hotel, explore the town or opt to go for a hike and immerse yourself in the unique flora and fauna of the peninsula. Finish another great day with a sunset walk along the Malecon and delicious fresh sea food at the seaside restaurants. We are back at hotel HBlue in La Paz.

Day 5: Today we will explore the stunning beaches and fascinating desert environment close to la Paz. After breakfast our van will pick us up and bring us to the best spots of the area. On the program are short hikes, including a viewpoint over the famous Balandra beach, Balandra beach and Playa El Tecolote. 

 

At this time of the year, whale sharks and sea lions are present in the area. If you are interested in a closer encounter with these friendly sea creatures and would like to go for a swim with them, we can arrange this for the morning of day 5 (extra cost). Day 6:  Get excited for a day of fun which combines colorful historic towns, shopping opportunity, whale watching and beach time. We start early to go to Cabo San Lucas to enjoy a two hour boat trip to look out for the migrating humpback whales. If we get lucky we can observe them breeching and see the new moms teaching their newborn. Of course, we will pass by the famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas and take our photo in front of it. You have the possibility to go for a refreshing swim before we come back to the harbor. Enjoy some free time to have some lunch, relax on the beach or take a walk along the lively marina. In the early afternoon we head to Todos Santos, a colorful historic town. Take your photo at the famous Hotel California and stroll the markets of the 'pueblo magico'. We arrive back to La Paz in the evening to have our last dinner together and to celebrate a fantastic week. Overnight in La Paz, hotel HBlue.


Day 7:  Departure day.

 

Time to say goodbye and take the memories of an unique experience with you.  We have no doubt that you will always remember the past seven days.
