Day of the Dead in Mexico

Itinerary

Day 1:  Bienvenidos a Mexico! Airport transfer to our hotel in Mexico City. Welcome Meeting and optional first dinner. Overnight in Mexico City

 

Day 2:  After we have spend the morning in Mexico City, we travel to Puebla on private van. On the way we will stop in Cholula, a colorful city which is famous for its church over a pre-hispanic structure in shape of a pyramid. Overnight in Puebla

 

Day 3:  Learn about Talavera pottery in the morning and see the local artists creating colorful designs. Free afternoon to visit museums, shop and enjoy the beauty of the 16th and 17th century buildings. Overnight in Puebla

 

Day 4:  Travel to Oaxaca on private van. Come with us on a city walk to take in the first impressions of a city that celebrates Day of the Dead like no other. Overnight in Oaxaca

 

Day 5: Early visit to Monte Albán, a Zapotec arqueological site on top of a hill just outside the city. Learn about its importance and history during a guided tour. Join us for a market visit and try some of the many flavors of the delicious Oaxacan cuisine. In the evening we will visit together the cemetery of Atzompa, where you can experience the spirituality of Dia de los Muertos. Overnight in Oaxaca

 

Day 6: In the morning we will visit a Alebrije workshop. Afterwards enjoy some free time to stroll the town and immerse yourself in the colorfully decorated streets and unique ambience of the endless colors and happenings. If you desire to get a face painting, this is the right moment as we are getting ready for the street celebration. Overnight in Oaxaca

 

Day 7:  Free day to enjoy the decorations of the city center, walk the Botanical Gardens and visit the Museum of Oaxacan culture. Or option for an excursion to the waterfalls of Hierve del agua, a pottery village or textil workshops (not included). In the evening we celebrate a week full of new memories during our included farewell dinner.

 

Day 8: Departure day. Please be aware that this trip ends in Oaxaca.

Keep in mind: This trip starts in Mexico City and finishes in Oaxaca City. Oaxaca has an international airport and it is most convenient to flight out from here. If you would like to extend your stay in Mexico or prefer to go back to Mexico City over land, we are happy to assist you.
